Sun Metro Activates Route 70 University Express and
Introduces Route 75 R.C. Poe/Glory Road Express & a New Park+Ride Location

El Paso, Texas—On Monday, August 26, 2013, Sun Metro’s Route 70 University Express will begin operating once again from the Eastside Terminal, 1165 Sunmount, to the UTEP and El Paso Community College Rio Grande campus area.

Sun Metro also is introducing Route 75, the R.C. Poe/Glory Road Express, and a new Park+Ride, on Edgemere at R.C. Poe. (one block west of Rich Beem).

About the NEW Park+Ride
Begin Monday, Aug. 26, El Pasoans living near or east of Joe Battle/Loop 375 will be able park their personal vehicles at Sun Metro’s new Park+Ride location on Edgemere near R.C. Poe and board either Route 51 or the new bus service, Route 75 R.C. Poe/Glory Road Express.

About the NEW Route 75
Sun Metro passengers can ride Route 75 R.C. Poe/Glory Road Express from the new Park+Ride location in Far East El Paso to Downtown El Paso and the Glory Road Transfer Center.

The express route will operate Monday through Friday during morning and afternoon peak hours.

Route 75 will only service the following stops:
  • R.C. Poe Park+Ride
  • Kansas & Main
  • Myrtle & Stanton
  • Oregon & Rio Grande
  • Oregon & University
  • Glory Road Transfer Center (Bay E)

About Route 70
Route 70 University Express operates from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday with service offered every 30 minutes during peak hours (6-10 a.m. and 1-5 p.m.) and every hour during non-peak hours. The public is reminded that Route 70 runs in accordance with the university’s fall and spring semesters. Route 70 will be deactivated May 31, 2014, for the summer.

Passengers looking to save money can purchase weekly or monthly passes that are good for an unlimited number of bus trips during the life of the pass. Reduced fare passes, such as student passes, require a valid school ID be shown to Sun Metro coach operators as they board.

Currently, student weekly passes are $7 and monthly passes cost $30. Standard weekly passes are $12 and monthly passes are $48. Senior/disabled weekly passes are $2.50 and monthly passes are $10, with a valid Sun Metro ID.

Monthly passes can be purchased at the Eastside Terminal, the Downtown Transfer Center, any of the city’s public libraries, at any Sun Metro ticket vending machines or by mail. The weekly passes can be purchased on any Sun Metro bus or at any Sun Metro ticket vending machines. Pre-paid passes can be used on any fixed-route bus, except Routes 83 and 84.
