Sun Metro to Host Virtual Public Meetings on Full Service Recovery Plan
Routes Set to Come Back on August 2, 2020

El Paso, Texas—Beginning August 2, 2020, Sun Metro will bring back weekday and weekend schedules for fixed and Brio routes along with standard fare rates as part of its pandemic recovery plan.

Passengers and the community are invited to learn about Sun Metro’s recovery plan by participating in two virtual public meetings scheduled for:

Recovery plan route schedules will be available on our Service Improvements page. Streetcar operations will remain suspended under this phase of the recovery plan. Service changes to fixed and Brio routes will include:

  • Reinstating fare rates and front-door boarding on August 2, 2020.
  • Keeping seat-closed signs on every other seat to promote social distancing. 
  • Installing Plexiglas shields on all buses to maintain a barrier between passengers and operators.
  • Continuing extra cleaning efforts to keep buses clean and sanitized.
  • Requiring all passengers to sit while riding. Riding standing up will not be allowed to promote social distancing. Buses that reach passenger seating capacity will be assisted along the routes by buses on standby.
The standard bus fare is $1.50 per ticket. Discounts available for seniors, military and students. Children 5 and younger ride for free.
